Rare Cancers

Rare Cancer Hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad

Most cancer resources focus on common types. Rare cancers are often:

    • Misdiagnosed initially
    • Treated late due to unclear symptoms
    • Managed without molecular confirmation
    • Overlooked because they don’t “fit” common patterns

At Horizon Cancer Care, we evaluate rare cancers carefully, confirm pathology accurately, and initiate evidence-based treatment protocols.

    About Rare Cancers

Rare cancers are those that occur infrequently in the general population. Because of their uncommon nature, they often require:

    Pediatric Cancers (Childhood Cancers)

Cancer in children is rare compared to adults, but it requires specialized evaluation and treatment.
Unlike adult cancers, pediatric cancers are usually:

    Not related to lifestyle factors
Often linked to developmental or genetic changes
    Rapid-growing but frequently highly treatment-responsive
    Common childhood cancers include:
    Leukemia
    Brain tumors
    Lymphomas
    Wilms tumor
    Neuroblastoma

Pediatric oncology requires dedicated protocols, age-specific chemotherapy dosing, and multidisciplinary pediatric support. When indicated, our patients treated in collaboration with pediatric oncology centers for comprehensive management.

When Should You Seek Re-Evaluation for a rare cancer?

    Symptoms persist despite treatment
    Diagnosis feels unclear
    Report mentions “rare variant”
Cancer is not responding as expected
Treatment options were presented as limited

Our Clinical Philosophy for Rare Cancers

Confirm diagnosis before committing to therapy
    Review pathology when needed
    Use molecular testing appropriately
Avoid overtreatment when disease is indolent
    Escalate treatment promptly when aggressive

    FAQ’s

    • Not necessarily. Some rare cancers grow very slowly and can be managed for many years, while others may behave aggressively. The outcome depends more on the tumor biology and stage at diagnosis than on how common it is.
