Colorectal Cancer Hospital in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad

A change in bowel habits is often ignored — blood in stools is not always piles.

Colorectal cancer (colon and rectal cancer) is increasingly seen in both older and younger adults. When detected early, it is highly treatable. When delayed, it becomes more complex — often requiring multimodality treatment.
At HCC, we manage colorectal cancer with structured staging, multidisciplinary planning, minimally invasive surgery where appropriate, and evidence-aligned systemic therapy.

    Why Specialised Care Matters

Colon and rectal cancers behave differently.Rectal cancer, in particular, requires precise sequencing of radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery to preserve function and reduce recurrence. Treatment is planned with intention to ensure the best outcomes.

    Early Symptoms Patients Overlook

    Persistent change in bowel habits
Blood in stool (often mistaken for piles)
    Unexplained anemia
    Abdominal pain or bloating
    Unintentional weight loss

Any rectal bleeding should be evaluated — not assumed to be hemorrhoids.

    Advanced Diagnostic Approach

    Accurate staging determines outcome.
    We ensure:

    Colonoscopy with biopsy
    Contrast-enhanced CT scan
MRI pelvis (critical for rectal cancer planning)
    PET-CT in selected advanced cases
Molecular profiling in metastatic disease (RAS, BRAF, MSI status)

Proper staging before surgery reduces recurrence risk.

    Our Treatment Strategy

    Surgery
    Laparoscopic or open colectomy
Low anterior resection (sphincter-preserving when feasible)
    Abdominoperineal resection (when necessary)
Total mesorectal excision (TME) for rectal cancer

Our expertise ensures complex surgeries are performed with excellent cure rates and low risk of complications

    Neoadjuvant Therapy (Rectal Cancer)

Selected rectal cancers benefit from chemotherapy ± radiation before surgery. This can:

    Shrink tumors
    Improve sphincter preservation
    Reduce local recurrence

    Sequence and timing are critical.

    Chemotherapy & Targeted Therapy
Adjuvant chemotherapy for stage III and high-risk stage II
    Systemic therapy for metastatic disease
Targeted agents and immunotherapy in selected molecular subtypes

All protocols are evidence-based and toxicity-monitored.

Stoma Care: Addressing a Common Fear

One of the biggest concerns patients have is:
“Will I need a permanent bag?”
Not all patients require a permanent stoma. In many cases, it is temporary and reversed after healing. When a stoma is necessary, we ensure:

    Pre-surgery counselling
    Stoma site marking
    Dedicated stoma care education
    Long-term support guidance

With proper care, patients can return to normal daily activities, work, and travel confidently.

Management of Advanced & Metastatic Disease

    We manage:

Liver metastases (with surgical and systemic coordination)
    Oligometastatic disease
    Recurrent colorectal cancer
    Obstruction or emergency presentations

Structured planning improves survival and quality of life.

    When Should You Consult?

    Rectal bleeding
Iron deficiency anemia without clear cause
    Family history of colon cancer
    Abnormal colonoscopy report
Newly diagnosed colorectal cancer seeking structured plan

Early consultation improves cure rates significantly.

    FAQ’s

    • For average-risk individuals, screening is recommended starting at age 45. Those with family history or genetic syndromes may need earlier screening. Colonoscopy remains the gold standard screening test.
